At BMA, we appreciate every opportunity to meet colleagues from the sugar industry face to face. The SASTA Congress in South Africa was the perfect event for this. In close collaboration with our partner Sucrotech, we made the most of the professional and inspiring setting in Durban to develop existing relationships, make new contacts and gain an in-depth view of new projects planned by the sugar industry in Africa.

Knowledge transfer at the SASTA Congress
The South African Sugar Technologists' Association (SASTA) promotes the exchange of knowledge related to the production and processing of sugar cane products. At its annual congress, experts meet to share and discuss the latest research findings and technological innovations.
BMA demonstrates efficiency of state-of-the-art vertical continuous pans
BMA sugar technologist Dr Omkar Thaval seized the opportunity to describe the use of state-of-the-art vertical continuous pans in detail. In his paper "Vertical continuous vacuum pans for high and low grade massecuites in cane sugar factories”, he showed how these technologies can improve both productivity and energy efficiency in sugar factories around the globe. With his ability to present this and other complex topics in an accessible manner, Dr Thaval contributed significantly to BMA’s conference success.
