From 9 to 13 October of this year, the BMA sales representatives met in Hanover for their annual conference. Delegates from over 36 countries had come, very much looking forward to the event, with plenty of questions and many good memories of the last meeting. After the conference, everybody felt the benefits – and came away with ambitious plans.

Who would have thought it: BMA is building bridges! But these are not transport routes, or conveyor belts for the sugar industry, far from it: they are bridges between industry and the community, between employees and pensioners, between young and old. They are what the day of action Building Bridges is all about.

At the end of September, the Congress of the Association of Honduran Sugar Technologists (ATAHON) once again opens its doors. On the agenda for this 19th event of its kind are ap-proaches to improving energy and cost efficiency in the sugar industry. Several papers from BMA will touch on this subject.

In early August 2016, BMA received an order for the supply of extraction

equipment to Hokkaido, one of Japan's islands and

the country's main beet-growing area.

For the second time in its history, Mexico will host the ATALAC (Asociación de Técnicos Azucareros de Latinoamérica y del Caribe) congress together with the ATAM (Asociación de Técnicos Azucareros de México, A. C.) conference. Both will be held from 29 August to 2 September, 2016 in the city and port of Veracruz.
