2016 marks the association's 75th anniversary and the annual meeting will once again be held in the United States, its country of origin. Initially named the Association of North American Sugar Refineries, Sugar Industry Technologists Inc. has in the past three quarters of a century evolved into an international platform of more than 500 sugar technologists, 50 refineries, and 50 associated companies.
SIT members meet once a year, in May, for technical exchange and to present papers and posters on process technology, quality assurance, or environmental issues in the sugar sector. BMA representatives have been among the active and committed members of the association for many years.
We would therefore like to take this opportunity to congratulate SIT on its 75th anniversary, on behalf of everybody at BMA in Braunschweig and at our subsidiaries. "We look forward to many more years of technological exchange on sugar-related issues", says BMA's CTO, Uwe Schwanke.
