Side screens for higher throughputs
Instead of the bottom screens that are normally used in extraction towers, BMA’s Tower 2000 is equipped with side screens, through which the entire tower juice flows off. Side screens offer a number of advantages: they allow higher specific throughputs and, unlike bottom screens, can take much higher loads. The contamination risk is also reduced, because the contamination-prone juice zones below the bottom screens are eliminated. The design of the tower bottom section has been optimised with streamlined flow conditions in the juice duct and the rinsing system, which considerably reduces the maintenance and cleaning requirements.
High quality at moderate cost
Wherever possible, the tower materials were selected with a view to wear and acid resistance, while bearing cost efficiency in mind. The drive system with segmented bull gear, lubrication and monitoring systems reflects state-of-the-art technology with high safety standards at moderate cost. The modular structure of the drive system provides for a high level of plant availability, because the plant can continue to operate even if one of the drive units should fail. For tower installation, the much simpler outdoor solution was given preference over indoor installation.
The tower will be delivered to Poland section by section, and BMA will supervise assembly to ensure high-quality installation and provide the necessary assistance, so the very demanding time schedule can be met. Production is due to start on 15 September 2014.
