Like his predecessor, Steinbrink has an electrical engineering background. After graduating, he started on the career ladder in 1998 at Alcatel Kabel (later Nexans) in the Power Cables division, finishing as division manager. In 2007, Steinbrink moved to the Harting Technology Group in Espelkamp for almost two years, as managing director. In late 2008, he returned to Nexans. Based in Paris, Steinbrink held various senior positions in the High Voltage Cables business segment. He took an interest in renewable energy projects such as offshore wind farms, and in supra connectivity, and was in charge of the Machinery division. In April 2017, Steinbrink was appointed Chairman of the Board at Nexans Germany and CTO one year later.
From November 2018, his wide range of experience in the project business for the manufacturing industry and power utilities, and his expertise in serving global markets and leading international corporations will benefit BMA. Under Dr Steinbrink’s direction, BMA will be continuing on its successful path of internationalisation.
The merger with SMAG has placed a strong partner at BMA’s side. The coming months will be dedicated to successfully integrating the engineering experts for the sugar industry into the SMAG Group, but with their own brand. Steinbrink’s motto: “Let’s simply do it”. “Dr Dirk Steinbrink was our preferred candidate for the position of CEO at BMA. With his many years of experience in the project business and in managing international companies, he is certain to drive development at BMA, while making his mark throughout the group. We very much look forward to working with him”, said Sebastian H. Brandes, Chairman of the BMA Supervisory Board.
