The miniature K3080 was built as a 1:3 scale model and is a real lookalike. The main reason: its shell was almost completely made from the same materials as the original and using identical manufacturing processes. Many details, such as connection points, samplers or covers, however, had to be worked by hand in meticulous detail. “Our apprentices found it particularly motivating to apply the skills learned so far in the building of this model. They also enjoyed working together on a real product for a specific purpose”, said Till Reichenberg, responsible for training at the BMA subsidiary Pro Ausbildung Schulung Service GmbH.
The whole project lasted about two months, from the first drawing to handover to marketing. Trainees from BMA’s design team had, in fact, provided the drawings. The result is very impressive indeed. On photos, it is hard to tell the difference between the original and its model – on the outside, at least. But a look inside the miniature centrifugal will bring a smile to your face: unlike the real K3080, the model does not separate syrup from sugar crystals. Instead, a drum produces delicious candy floss!
